Except The Lord Build the House

Article by Paul Masters

The United States of America were founded about 220 years ago. Since that time our history has been a long, difficult story of decline, no matter how we would like to portray it. First came economic manipulation by the banks, which caused economic hardship and drove people to seek better fortunes in the west. As the west expanded, so did federal influence, and in eighty years the nation was torn apart by a bloody war that led to the deaths of tens of thousands of Americans, sank the South into economic depression, and tore cultural and racial rifts in our society which have yet to heal. We became embroiled in conflicts around the world, culminating in the World Wars, Korea, Vietnam, and countless other wars which continue to this day. The economy also spiraled into a pattern of depressions and recessions, manipulated by banks which bled gold and silver from circulation and led us to dependence on paper, copper slugs, and computer symbols. We slaughter our own offspring. We promote sexual deviance. Our children are killing each other and themselves. Our educational systems have gradually declined. Our liberties have been steadily stripped away until now we find ourselves compelled to stand against our own government.

Friends, something is remarkably wrong. If the nation we founded in the eighteenth century was indeed strong, would it have fallen so quickly? Not even two hundred and fifty years have passed, and already we see it gasping for air. Even pagan nations such as Greece, Egypt, and Rome lasted longer before their survival was questioned. It’s undeniable: Something is terribly, horribly wrong! Let’s be honest with ourselves – somewhere in the formation and maintenance of the American Republic we’ve missed something vital to our survival.

The Bible tells us in Psalm 127:1, “Except Yahweh build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except Yahweh keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.” The house of the American Republic is falling apart. It would seem that unless something dramatic is done, the builder will have labored in vain. Even though we keep vigilant watch on the actions in Washington DC, call our representatives, and vote regularly, things continue to disintegrate under our noses. The watchman wakes in vain. If God is true, and the Bible speaks truth, then these are blaring clues that should spur us to ask a serious question: Does God keep the United States? Does He build it? Look around! Would these things be happening today if Almighty God were keeping us in the palm of His hand?

No! No, they would not! But how can this be? Deuteronomy 7:9 says, “Know therefore Yahweh thy God, He is God, the faithful God.” Is the Bible lying? Has God abandoned us? Is he unfaithful to America? Are we all alone after the promise of Divine protection?

Not at all! Let’s read the rest of Deuteronomy 7:9, and on through verse 11: “Know therefore that Yahweh thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations; And repayeth them that hate him to their face, to destroy them: he will not be slack to him that hateth him, he will repay him to his face. Thou shalt therefore keep the commandments, and the statutes, and the judgments, which I command thee this day, to do them.”

Let’s be honest with ourselves, friends: Have we loved God? “Of course!” you might say, but remember, Jesus Himself said, “If you love Me, keep My commandments.” I John 2:4 says, “He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.” So if we have loved Him, we must have been keeping His commandments, individually as well as nationally.

The First Commandment? It says, You shall have no other gods before Me – but in the name of “religious freedom” we’ve allowed all worshipers of all gods of all religions to settle among us.

The Second Commandment? It says, “You shall not make idols.” Yet we are quicker to pledge allegiance to an inanimate flag, or extol our own Constitution, or glorify our military, than we are to pledge allegiance to the heavenly kingdom, or extol the Holy Scriptures, or glorify the King of kings.

The Third Commandment? It says, “You shall not take the name of YHWH your God in vain.” Yet we’ve become so lax about guarding the sacredness of our God’s name that our most casual conversation is laced with profanity, and our entertainment, education, and even laws revile and mock the Savior.

The Fourth Commandment? It says, “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.” Not only have we abandoned the practice of ceasing work every seventh day, but we have even abandoned the seven-year sabbaths, which exhaust the ground we farm. Few Americans have even heard of the vital Jubilee Year – yet we are ignorant and arrogant enough to call ourselves free!

The Fifth Commandment? It says, “Honor your father and your mother.” Yet our children have become a terror to their parents, defiant and self-absorbed. When our parents grow old it’s become common practice to farm our parents out to nursing homes, rather than care for them ourselves, as God intended.

The Sixth Commandment? It says, “You shall not murder.” Yet we murder unborn children by the millions every single year. We assassinate people with guns and drones around the world and justify it as acts of war. Euthanasia is even becoming accepted in some states, and it’s only a matter of time before we accept the practice nationally.

The Seventh Commandment? It says, “You shall not commit adultery.” We are an object of disgust even among the heathen nations around us for our promiscuity and our acceptance of sodomy. Marriage has been nearly abandoned in favor of dissipation. More and more children are being raised in fractured homes, and the effects are deep and disastrous.

The Eighth Commandment? It says, “You shall not steal.” The banks steal our lives through usury. The government steals our property through eminent domain and taxation. The State steals our children if they deem us unfit for parenthood. We even steal from each other through government-instituted socialist programs.

The Ninth Commandment? It says, “You shall not bear false witness.” Yet our leaders lie, our judicial experts lie, our educators lie, our news sources lie, even our religious leaders lie. Lying has become as much, if not moreso, a part of our culture’s communication as truth.

The Tenth Commandment? It says, “You shall not covet.” And yet so much strife springs from our covetous socialist policies, the idea that we are owed what we need, rather than obliged to earn, and our eagerness to enslave ourselves to the banks, which capitalize off our covetousness for what we cannot afford.

There is not a single one of God’s simple yet vital Ten Commandments which we, as a nation, have not violated, and the liberals are not the only ones to blame. Both sides of the political aisle are guilty of these violations. My friends, God is faithful, but we have not been faithful to Him. He is not keeping covenant with us because we have not kept covenant with Him. If our nation loved God, we would keep His commandments. But we have not. Therefore, we have hated Him! We have hated our God, and thus, He is repaying us. God “repayeth them that hate him to their face, to destroy them: he will not be slack to him that hateth him, he will repay him to his face.”

America has devolved into a cesspool of corruption, theft, murder, and licentiousness. We have played the harlot. God does not keep a house that spurns His morals. Almighty God has turned His face from America, and until we repent and turn and obey Him over any of the fickle decrees of man, we will continue to face harsh judgment. He will smite us again and again, just as He did to Israel in the ancient days, until our pride is finally broken and we fall to our knees in humiliation and penitence.

Ask nearly any preacher, any church attendee, and most of them will almost certainly tell you that the Law of God is harsh. But I John 3:5 says it is the love of God that we keep His commandments – His Laws. He gave us His Law out of love for us. What’s more, John explicitly states that His Laws are not grievous! They are not hard, they are not burdensome. Imagine, if you will, a world in which taxation is a flat ten percent – and utterly voluntary. Imagine a world without the national strife of politics. Imagine a world without banks, without a Federal Reserve, a world where a man is free to prosper and keep the fruits of his labor. Imagine a world without prisons, where justice is meted out swiftly and fairly. Imagine a world in which the family is preserved as a precious societal building block, where families are responsible for their own children’s education. Imagine a world without the UN, NATO, CIA, FBI, IRS, BATF, NEA, DEA, DNR, or FDA, a world where a man is free to do with his own land as he sees fit, to start a business without government interference, to defend himself without worry of legal backlash from a so-called “justice system”. A world with minimal war, crime, and sexual deviance, with no interracial conflict, with prosperity and health and peace beyond anything we have ever seen. Study Biblical Law and you will see that this is but part of the world our nation would usher into being if we only adhered to them. No man or system devised by man can bring such a thing about. I tell you now that anyone who describes the Laws of God as harsh and antiquated and burdensome is either a liar or grossly ignorant!

Many might tell us that the Laws of God were done away by Jesus Christ. Why then did Jesus Himself say in Matthew 5:17, “Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to establish”? Was Christ unaware of His mission, or mistaken? Was He lying? Not at all! In Psalm 19 David calls the Law perfect, sure, right, pure, clean, enduring forever, true, and righteous altogether. The apostle Paul describes it as holy, just, and good in Romans 7:12. If Christ came to do away with what is perfect, right, pure, clean, true, holy, just, and good, then He would have been imperfect, wrong, impure, unclean, false, profane, unjust, and evil! God forbid! May He strike Me down if I ever claim such a thing about the Lamb of God! No, Christ says, think not that I came to abolish the Law – He says, don’t even consider such a notion! In Matthew 7:12 He iterates what is known as the Golden Rule. Our Lord says, “Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.” Jesus Christ extols the Law as the embodiment of the Golden Rule, the Rule of love, the love of God! Christ came not to destroy the love of God, but to establish it! Think again about the world we would have under Holy Law – is that not a world offered only by a loving God? Would abolition of that Law, which would in turn abolish that world, not be an act of hatred and harshness?

Any house, any system, built on any Law other than that of God, is not built by God, and they labor in vain that build it. It will certainly collapse. The United States are collapsing. Tyranny has always been one of the most prevalent signs of a nation’s collapse. Once tyranny takes its strangling hold, it’s only a matter of time before the nation gives its last gasp. We have thrown aside the simple, easy, holy, good, righteous, and perfect Law of God in favor our own machinations. Look at where they’ve gotten us! As per Hosea 5:15 , God has said of us, “I will go and return to my place, till they acknowledge their offence, and seek my face: in their affliction they will seek me early.” In other words, He has withdrawn His favor and His protection in hopes that the results of our own waywardness will drive us back to obedience. Are we not suffering countless afflictions in America? How can we even begin to enumerate them all? God is the only one who can rescue us from this situation – only He can dig us out of this morass. All we must do is humbly admit that We the People cannot govern ourselves, that we are foolish and weak and sinful, and only our repentance and our submission to His perfect Law will set things right again.

The Law of God is alive and well, and available for us to utilize today. It cannot grant us individual, spiritual salvation – only the saving blood and grace of Jesus Christ can do that – but it can clean up the mess we’ve made of our country. It can make America greater than it has ever been in all of history. The time to take action on it is now! What are we waiting for? Why are we sitting around, hoping that the next election will fix things, that the promises of the candidates just this once aren’t pompous lies, that an inanimate Constitution written by fallible men long dead will rescue us? The Living Word of the Living God offers rescue. His simple, light, righteous Law offers far more than any human legislation. Until we recognize this and turn to it as our Law, we will only spiral further into the depth of despotism and societal chaos. Do you love your country? Do you love your children? Then you owe it to them to make this change in America. True patriots don’t stubbornly hold to a failed Constitution, but look for the answers, and upon finding those answers, act upon them. Patriotism demands that we cut free from the sinking American Republic and establish a new system which is truly under God, under His Law, and under His Son. Patriotism demands that we humble ourselves and admit that We the People cannot guide our own footsteps, that we’ve seen the results of our attempt, and that those results are disastrous and repulsive. The true patriot stands for nothing less than the firm and perfect foundation of Scripture as the lifeline for his country and spurns anything less. If you are a patriot, you will uphold God’s Law, and God’s Law alone as the only source of justice and security in America!

At this moment, America is falling quickly into despotism and moral depravity. Just as in the case of Sodom, we will push the patience of God to its limit and face destruction, duly earned by our sinfulness and neglect of our duty to our Creator and Lord. However, as in the case of Nineveh, we still have a chance, if we only repent and return to Him. Disaster can still be averted. The path to safety and survival is wide open, illuminated by the light of Jesus Christ, and announced by His loving voice as he cries, “Come, ye who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest!”

The time is coming when the armies of our own nation will mobilize against any who offer resistance. Its judicial systems will prepare to throw dissidents in prison. Its agencies will work to shut down and silence anyone who speaks up for liberty and truth. This force, friends, is armed with nearly limitless resources. They have massive weapons, large numbers, and a propaganda machine that can sway the minds of the populace. If you hope to find salvation in yourselves or in the original documents that first set this tyrannical ball ball rolling, you will be severely disappointed. Men and their own creations cannot save them. Just as in the case of Gideon’s three hundred against the hordes of the Midianites, our strength can only be found in the might and power of God, in His Law and in the saving blood of His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. The time has come to rely fully on God, not on our “rights”, not on our Constitution, not on any Founding Fathers, but on Jesus Christ, because in Him alone is victory.

Jesus Christ came to set up a Kingdom, as we read about in Daniel 2. This Kingdom overshadows, overwhelms, and transcends all other governments and kingdoms. It is a just Kingdom, a righteous Kingdom, and that Kingdom is here, on this earth, and eternal. “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth,” Christ declared – in this statement He announced His Kingship, and that Kingship has never ended, and never will. He will stand and fight for those who stand and fight with Him. Love God with all your heart, soul, and strength – ALL OF IT! This leaves no room in your heart for a Constitutional Republic of human creation, no room for your rights or your lives or your property or your pursuit of happiness. “Seek ye first the kingdom of heaven,” Jesus promises, “and all these things will be added unto you.” If we seek the establishment and renewal of the King’s reign, then we seek the application and enforcement of His Law, and if we seek the application and enforcement of His Law, then we seek our own freedom, our own liberty, our own happiness! We seek our own safety. God always fights for His own, and His own are those who look to Him for their redemption and protection.

We stand on the brink of events in America and the world at large which could very well prove cataclysmic economically and socially. I promise you that no election or act of Congress will avert disaster. We need to be humble enough to admit that nothing we or our bureaucrats do can or will save us. Only God can save us. Only His power and glory, which surpasses all else, can give the protection we need to survive. The American Republic will fall. Its days are quickly drawing to a close. If you listen to current news, to the economic indicators, to the political shenanigans, to the draconian laws, to the social upheavals, you can hear its dying gasps. Mark my words: No power on earth can save it. It is doomed. And those who cling to it will be dragged with it to destruction. It’s time to let go of everything but the power and dominion and rule of Jesus Christ.

Do you want a Constitution? We have it in the pages of the Bible! Everything we need is there, everything we need to survive the inevitable fall of the United States, everything we need to build on its ruins and create a solid, stable, happy society full of prosperity and freedom. The Bible is the Constitution, the Constitution of a nation of, by, and for God, not a humanist society of, by and for the fallible, fickle, selfish people! If you stand for any other Constitution and its resultant society, you will surely perish. You will not be able to stand against the prisons, judges, guns, bombs, helicopters, airplanes, tanks, and surveillance of the despot. You will perish in your sin. Cling, not to the government of men, but for the government of Christ!

Before it’s too late, put on the whole armor of God and join the fray, knowing that you are joining the winning army. Put off your old man, with its idols and delusions of governance and salvation by your own strength, and become a new person, covered by the blood of the Almighty Savior.

Believe in Jesus Christ and His ability to save, not only from our sins but from our oppressors. Repent of your reliance in other authorities and saviors, false gods who are nothing more than the works of our own hands. And finally, be immersed in water for the forgiveness of sins. Read Mark 16:15-16, Acts 2:36-41, Acts 22:1-16, Romans 6:3-4, Galatians 3:26-27, Colossians 2:11-13, and 1 Peter 3:21, and act on it today! Then learn the Law of God and teach others, because I John 3:4 says sin is transgression of the Law, and Christ Himself said that whoever violates the least of the commandments and teaches others to do so will be called the least in the Kingdom – the lowest and most worthless. Make yourself an asset to the Kingdom of Christ and promote His righteousness, and appeal to His power for protection and salvation. There is work to be done in America, and the great changes we so desperately need could start with you! Let’s start a real revolution, not a revolution back to the intent of the human Founders, but a revolution back to the intent of the Divine Creator, the One True God.
